Art using protest banners

I'm trying to find ways of working with used banners. Soaking the banner in water to bleed and then add into a canvas or board.. also maybe shred them, mulch them..

Some history of the banner here:

I like this idea with the coat and names of deaths on benefits along with MPs name.

In 2015, Parliament commissioned nine artists, three of whom are disabled, to produce banners for Westminster Hall. Jason Wilsher-Mills created banners inspired by the 1834 Tolpuddle Martyrs and the 1995 Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Rachel Gadsden took the 1601 Poor Law and the 1829 Catholic Emancipation Act as her inspirations. Paula Stevens-Hoare marked The Great Reform Act of 1832, which extended the right to vote, and the 1967 Sexual Offences Act, which decriminalised homosexuality, with her banners.

In KUWG there are more and less vocal people. exhibitionists and shy, more reserved people... Each has a voice that should or must be heard.. I have observed that whilst a more reserved member will create the banners that the more exhibitions types wont necessarily need, therefore the banner becomes the voice and often the creation of the more quieter members.

The exhibition Protest, whilst mainly contrived I did gather some ideas of how to display the KUWg banners.

The above idea interests me, and I am currently soaking some banners to use on a canvas or wood backing, these banners are 'spent' now, the protest has passed and no longer relevant. I want to make a homage to the banners that have been used
